The Power by Naomi Alderman

Oh my gosh, this book. It has changed my life and how I look at the world forever and it is a FICTION book. The Power is all about an alternative world, where women suddenly get the almost supernatural power to shock people with electricity. Women are now the stronger sex, and the reshaping of society to fit this new tip in strength is what makes this book interesting.

The book follows four characters, based in different countries, as they race through this new world, and it's so beautifully written that you see exactly where each one is coming from, even as they make awful decisions.

It is so refreshing and eye-opening to read about a world where women are in charge, and it does really make you think - would the world be any better with the "gentler sex" in power? Would it be worse?

Finishing The Power felt like emerging from a long sleep. I had to readjust to the world (I know, I know, I sound very over-dramatic). I think this was because, despite being about a world so different to our own, it is 100% believable at the same time.

I definitely recommend this book - it is thought-provoking, makes you have all the feels, is pretty kick-ass and it is powerful (cringe title reference). I lovelovelove it and the ending will blow your mind.
